How we develop a brand
in service of its mission.

We connect an understanding of your organization and its audiences to brand identity, strategy, action planning, implementation and learning.

  1. 01
    Understand

    Mission, audiences and operating conditions

  2. 02
    Define

    Identity, positioning and strategic direction

  3. 03
    Plan

    Priorities, responsibilities and resources

  4. 04
    Implement

Language, design and experiences in use

  5. 05
    Evaluate

Audience responses and contribution to the objective

Learning can change the direction, the plan or the work.

Understand what connects.
Develop what will help.

01Understand the mission and the situation

We establish what the organization wants to accomplish and whose response matters. We examine existing work, audience understanding, alternatives and the practical conditions that could affect the result. A reported problem is a starting point, not a settled explanation.

02Define the brand and its direction

Where needed, we develop the identity and positioning: who you are, what you offer and why it matters. Brand strategy identifies how to build the understanding and relationships your objectives require. Existing sound decisions remain useful foundations.

03Plan the action

We connect the strategy to initiatives, priorities, responsibilities, timing and resources. We identify what the organization can change directly, where collaboration is needed and which conditions it cannot control.

04Develop and implement the brand

We create the language, design, websites, campaigns and materials the plan requires. We review the work with your team and prepare it for the encounters in which people will actually use it.

05Evaluate and develop further

We check whether the work functions as intended and examine the audience responses relevant to the objective. What people understand, choose or do can inform refinements to the work and, when needed, to the strategy.

These activities inform one another. A focused project may build from an existing strategy; a new brand may need several developed together. The scope follows your situation.

What this looks like in a decision.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLE

A service has enquiries,
but few applications.

The initial request is for a campaign. Before producing it, we examine what happens between someone hearing about the service and deciding to apply.

Possible explanation
Eligibility is unclear; the referral description and application page use different language.
Brand work to consider
Clarify the service explanation, align referral materials and simplify the application content.
What to learn
Can people identify whether the service fits? Can they complete an appropriate application?
What else matters
Availability and delivery capacity. More demand is only useful when the service can respond.

A wider perspective, a specific contribution.

The full environment does not need to be under your control for useful action to be possible. We examine the relationships relevant to the work and choose interventions your organization can act on.
